I would like to rate diector Ashique Abu next to Lijo Jose and both of them are the promising directors of Malayalam filmdom and as such my expectation of Ashique Abu directed Neelavelicham was so high as well.
While getting out of the theatre myself was asking what prompted Ashique to think of remaking Bhargavi Nilayam and what fascinated him to remake a four decade old film in the much changed film scenario.
As stated earlier as my expectation was much high and hence the depth of my desperation on watching the film was also so deep.To be frank the much talented Ashique could do nothing in Neelavelicham.
The lead role acted to its perfection by Tovino and definitely the character in Neelavelicham will definitely be a role to be reckoned in Tovino's career especially when Tovino is interested in characters like one in Thallumala etc.
The make of Roshan Mathew's character chould have made more attractive as Roshen is a gifted artist capable to stand next to Fahad the director should have given more attention to make his character attractive.
The most important draw back and short coming of the film are in its background music scoring and editing.And of course keeping in mind of the less scope of photography in night scenes without liight etc but still lam of the opinion that the camaraman failed to do any miracle.
The kindness shown to keep in tact the original evergreen musics of Malayalam is a great thing, but at the very same time it pitty to say that Ashique misrably failed to picturising the scenes to suit the changed present day filmdom.
Expecting better films from the talented director Ashique Abu in future.
